Accomodation

1. You can choose the accommodation unit which will meet your needs and wishes best in two ways:

a) by yourself, using some of several search options of our website, or b) contacting our Sales Department, that will offer you several facilities which meet your criteria best.

2. During the search, you can click on the “My Favorites” button next to every unit which interests you. By clicking it, the chosen unit is saved in the virtual database (favorites) created by you which contains only those units that meet your criteria. Your selection is saved, and you can access the database at any time, but only from the computer you used for the search if you did the search as an anonymous user. If you have searched our database as a registered user, you can access your Favorites list from any computer when logged in under your username.

3. Having formed your Favorites list, get a complete and detailed review of the chosen units by clicking “My favorites review” link. This systematic and comparative review will help you in finding an accommodation unit that meets all your criteria best.

4. Upon making the final selection, you are required to fill in the reservation form for the chosen unit. It is necessary to fill in all the required information to process request.

5. When the reservation form is sent, a calculation will be generated automatically with all items, respective costs and the amount to be paid for reserving the chosen accommodation unit. At the bottom of the calculation there will be two options: cancellation of the reservation or its confirmation.

6. If you decide to confirm the reservation, the form will be sent to our Sales Department. Immediately upon the receipt of the reservation form, our staff will contact the facility owner to check whether the accommodation unit status on our website corresponds to the real status, i.e. whether the reservation is possible. Upon the approval of the request, the pre-invoice will be sent to your e-mail address or by fax. In the pre-invoice all costs will be clearly stated, together with the amount that needs to be paid for reservation confirmation. The payment will be made according to the payment method and dynamics published on our webiste.

7. For final confirmation, the reservation payment must be made within 24 hours upon the receipt of the final pre-invoice. If the payment is not made by the guest on the due date, it may result in overbooking. The agency does not bear responsibility for that, but the agency will offer an alternative accommodation of the same quality to the guest.

8. Upon the payment is made, you have to send the confirmation to the agency by email (info@holidays-to-croatia.com) or fax (++ 385 21 227-947) unless you have paid by credit card in which case the agency receives payment confirmation automatically. After the payment verification or your credit card authorization, you will receive an e-mail with all the relevant information on the facility owner and the facility address. Written confirmation will be sent to your e-mail. Received voucher is also a written proof that you have reserved accommodation on the Adriatic.

How to find appropriate accommodation?

In order to make your search of accommodation that suits you best easier and faster, we offer several ways of searching our database.

1. Simple search – In addition to determining the basic parameters (dates of your vacation, number of people, type of accommodation and location), the program will automatically generate all required conditions and show only those accommodation units which meet the chosen criteria.

2. Advanced search – You can use our advanced search for other criteria besides the ones offered in the simple search:

* General data (type of accommodation, number of people, dates and location)

* Facility location (region, island-land, distance from the beach, locations with sand beaches etc.)

* Accommodation type (luxury villas, pensions, facilities with a swimming pool etc.)

* Unit position (ground floor, 1st floor, 2nd floor etc.)

* Additional offer (meals, pets, air condition, internet access etc.)

3. Code search – Have a detailed look of a specific accommodation unit by entering the facility code into the given field. This type of search enables the fastest access to a facility, but you have to know the facility code.

4. Geographical search – Find the accommodation in the location you prefer through our interactive map, i.e. region, riviera or place menu attached to the map.

5. Short period search – Since facility owner do not accept short period reservations very often, here you can find available short periods.

If no results match the chosen criteria, you can return to the previous step by clicking the “Back” button. All criteria will be saved. We recommend omitting the least important one and trying again.

If the advanced search results shows too many facilities meeting the criteria, you can return to the previous step by clicking the “Back” button and choose more additional criteria.

Payment for the rental of the selected accommodation unit is split in two parts. The first part is paid in advance when making a reservation of the accommodation unit and the rest is paid on the arrival day of the guests at our agency office or Moderator partner agency office which is closest to the reserved facility, or to the house owner on the arrival day.

In some cases, depending on the contract type signed with the house owners, it is necessary to make the payment of the rest of the amount to the agency bank account no later than 30 – 45 days prior to the arrival of the guests.

The advance payment amount is 50% of total arrangement price, and the agency will transfer it to the house owner giro account when the payment settles.

In exceptional cases (such as short period reservation or reservation made by guests who need a visa to enter Croatia) it is necessary to pay full amount of the arrangement price immediately to confirm the reservation.

The guest will be informed about the amounts of the advance and rest of the payment in the pre-invoice.

If the guest wants an “R-1” invoice, it must be stated when making a reservation request.

As part of the booking confirmation, the guest is obliged to make the booking payment within 24 hours of receiving the agency quote, and forward the payment confirmation to the agency. (Saturdays, Sundays and state holidays do not apply.)

The deadline by which the agency is obliged to keep the demanded dates optioned (available to the guest) is listed on each quote, under “time of payment.”

For 24 hours starting from the moment when the guest fills out and sends the booking request, the selected dates will be withdrawn from the market and the first option will belong to the guest who has made the booking request. The accommodation unit in question cannot be booked by anyone else in this time period. The dates in question will be highlighted in yellow on the agency’s website.

If the booking payment is made and the payment confirmation forwarded to the agency before maturity, the booked dates will be highlighted in red, and no other booking even partly overlapping with the confirmed dates will be possible for the current season.

If the agency fails to receive the payment confirmation by the appointed deadline, the guest will be understood to have given up on the booking. After the deadline has expired, the booked dates will no longer be highlighted in yellow, but be marked as available – on a white background with no highlighting color.

During the current season, no booking of the accommodation unit in question will be possible which would overlap even slightly with the confirmed booking. After the agency has received the funds (or after the card payment is made), all the information pertaining to the owner and address of the chosen accommodation unit will be sent to the guest’s e-mail address.

When the payment is settled to our account or when credit card payment has been authorized we will e-mail you the voucher.

The voucher contains all information of the facility owner and the address of the reserved facility, as well as the remaining amount that has to be paid to the facility owner by the guest on the day of arrival at the accommodation facility. The voucher must be presented to the facility owner on the day of your arrival. After you pay the rest of the amount, the owner will give you the keys of the reserved accommodation unit.

The voucher must be presented to the facility owner on the day of your arrival and the owner will give you the keys of the reserved accommodation unit.

If the whole amount has been paid at once, we will e-mail you the voucher when the paid amount is settled to our account. The voucher must be presented to the facility owner on the day of your arrival and the owner will give you the keys of the reserved accommodation unit.

Lighthouses

The guests should bring groceries and spices with them, as well as additional towels, matches, kitchen rags, dishwashing detergent and other cleaning agents, together with anything else they think they might need during they stay.

Grocery deliveries can be made to Savudrija, Veli rat and Struga lighthouses, as an additional paid service. On Sv.Ivan na pučini, Poreč and Prišnjak this service is also possible, but arrangements must be made in advance. Sušac and Palagruža are high seas islands and arrangements for groceries must be made by the guest before departure.

Lighthouse holidays are not recommended for any persons not in good health. Emergency medical services are provided in the shape of a speedboat or a helicopter, which transport the afflicted to the nearest hospital. All lighthouses are equipped with VHF radio stations which can be used to ask for emergency aid or medical advice through emergency channel 16 (safety channel.)

All lighthouses apart from Prišnjak feature resident ligthouse keepers with their families.

If you have a license for operating a motor boat, you will have the option to rent the lighthouse keeper’s boat from him.

Yacht charter

When putting a ship’s crew together, it is important to take several things into account. This group of people will be living together in conditions very different from the norm. They should therefore be in agreement on the destination, the routing, the ratio between activity and rest, being at sea and being docked etc. If your charter does not include a skipper, you should decide ahead of time who will be in charge, making important decisions in disputed and dangerous situations.

The person at the steering wheel should, based on experience and expertise, have the full trust and respect of every member of your party. If there are dissenting opinions among you with regards to your future cruise, we suggest dividing the group in two from the outset, in order to avoid an unsatisfactory holiday.

The Adriatic Sea is suitable for sailing in all seasons. Your choice of date can therefore be tailored to your preferences and sailing skills. If this is your maiden voyage, the summer is certainly the best choice as adverse weather, requiring special sailing skills, is very unlikely. On the other hand, experienced sailors eager for adventure will come into their own in wintertime.

If your wish is to experience the lively atmosphere of Adriatic towns, attend cultural events or visit nightclubs, summer is certainly your best choice. The spring and fall seasons are ideal for sailors wishing to avoid the summer crowds. If sunny weather is a must for you, July and August are months to plan for; however, you should avoid them if you are on a tight budget.

Selection of archipelago should be done according to your wishes and abilities. If you are a beginner, choose already tried routes with less windy areas and indented coast where you can find shelter in a marina, small port or cove reachable within 2 hours.

If you set off to the sea for diving and sport fishing adventures, make sure to find out which part of the Adriatic is the best for such activities and meeting your needs. Please take extra attention in attaining all necessary documents and permits, as well informing yourself about areas where fishing or diving is not allowed.

After choosing the archipelago, it is advisable to plan daily routes. We recommend that you follow the basic rule of choosing the most distant destination in a way that it can be reached within one third of the time you have at your disposal. In that way you will have the chance to enjoy the chosen destinations and get back on time. Please bear in mind that penalties for returning the boat after the check-out time are extremely high.

The everlasting dilemma – the sailboat or the motorboat?

If you wish for a dynamic holiday, covering many miles and calling in many ports, you should choose a motorboat. If you would rather just drift on the waves and surrender to the bliss of sailing itself, choose a sailboat. Do not be concerned about experience, as the operation of charter sailboats is extremely simple. The budget is often a factor which narrows choice down considerably; if yours is on the tight side, steer clear of motorboats, which are well-known fuel guzzlers.

If you wish to plan for your cruise along the Adriatic in July or August, we heartily recommend that you start looking for your vessel of choice as early as possible, and make your booking in April at the latest. The reason for this is intense demand; the best boats often quickly become unavailable. As for quality, we suggest that, once you have settled on the type of boat and a particular brand, you go for the newer boats, especially if this is your first cruise. A newer vessel is a guarantee of quality and a carefree holiday.ay that it can be reached within one third of the time you have at your disposal. In that way you will have the chance to enjoy the chosen destinations and get back on time. Please bear in mind that penalties for returning the boat after the check-out time are extremely high.

For a charter contract to be valid and serve its purpuse it must contain the following:

  • the usual information on the contract’s two sides: the charter company and the person renting the vessel. If the latter will not be the skipper also, then the skipper must be listed seperately, together with all the relevant permits which entitle this person to be in this role
  • the contract’s subject: the vessel with all of its defining characteristics
  • the exact price of the vessel’s rental, the deposit amount, with clearly listed terms and conditions of payment. All additional items must also be listed, such as an outboard motor, a dinghy, a spinnaker sail… each with their separate price.
  • the period of rental, with the exact dates and times by which the vessel can be signed for in its base port
  • the name and location of the base port, or, in the case of a one-way charter, the port in which the vessel can be signed off.
  • the exact number of people which will be present on board at any time.
  • The general form of the charter contract can be found on our website. As the act of booking is done online, there is no signing of an actual contract. It is rather considered that, by making the payment, the client confirms to have understood the terms and conditions of the charter. The terms and conditions are fully binding for both parties – the client and the agency.
  • Immediately upon receiving the payment confirmation, the agency sends a voucher to the client. The voucher contains all the important elements of the charter contract, and is to be shown to the authorities when the vessel is signed for.

When signing for the chartered vessel, a deposit is payable to the charter agency official, to cover for any possible damages which the vessel might sustain during the length of your charter. Note that the charter agency can only charge you for the deposited amount, regardless of the actual amount of damage. The remainder is charged to an insurance company.

Various methods are acceptable for the deposit payment: cash, credit cards, travellers or euro checks, or bank transfers. However, in practice few charter agencies will accept all of these. It would not be unheard-of for an acceptable method of payment to be one of the factors which determine the choice of charter agency. The deposit is of course payable only after you personally inspect the boat and make certain its condition and equipment are in full agreement with its Internet presentation, or with the offer which the agency official has made. The deposit will be returned to you in full once the vessel is returned with no damages or loss of equipment.

To ensure the safety of both the people on board and the vessel itself, when signing for your charter you should pay attention to the following: The vessel’s exterior

When signing for a vessel, it is imperative to make sure the equipment which is an essential part of it is in good working order. We include in the following list all the items which, according to Croatian laws and regulations, must be found on board a charter vessel at all times. We also include items we believe to be very useful:

The chartering agency will have the same expectations of you that you had of them before signing for the boat. Therefore, pay attention to returning the boat on time, in the same condition as when you first came on board – that is, with no external or internal damage, with all the equipment intact, and of course with the fuel tank filled. Just as in the very beginning, together with an Moderator representative, all will be looked over once more. As soon as it can be ascertained that the vessel is in the same condition in which it was delivered to you, you can bid a gentle farewell to the Adriatic, in the hope that the following summer is not too far away.

The advice and recommendations which follow are meant as a warning of the adverse consequences to nature which a single person’s irresponsible behavior can have. They represent the contribution made by Moderator towards raising the awareness of the importance of a proper relationship with nature, so as to maintain the beauties of our coast, sea and islands for the generations to come.

Restrooms

Using restrooms in marinas and harbors is forbidden, and fines are high. While moored, use the restrooms provided by the marina or a nearby hospitality facility. If you are in a cove, use the restroom discreetly, having first checked for the presence of any swimmers near you.

Garbage

Never discard any unnecessary items into the sea, nor leave them on the beaches and in coves where you moor, as there is no removal service. Make sure to use the garbage disposal facilities in the marinas and and harbors where you moor.

Open fire

If you decide to make a fire either for barbecuing or simply for pleasure, do it near the waterline, and never in a pinewood grove or near any greenery. Apply extreme care, and never leave the fire unattended even for brief periods as long as there are glowing embers. Having your boat’s fire extinguisher handy is advisable, or at the very least a bucket of water or some impromptu tool which can be used in an emergency.

Signal flares

Use signal flares with utmost responsibility and care, as experience has shown they can cause fires when used inconsiderately.

Protected species

Several plant and animal species of the Adriatic region are facing total extinction. Your overall responsible behavior should include care for the preservation of wildlife. The following should therefore be avoided: polluting the sea, excessive fishing, the spurious killing of animals or plucking of marine vegetation…

Environmental disasters

If you notice any signs of serious environmental damage during your cruise (oil spills, fish kill, fires…) or contribute to any such event, be certain to inform the nearest port authority or rescue service as soon as possible.
